Swimming, Cycling, Running
Since April 2023, konektra has been a sponsoring partner of professional athlete Simon Henseleit, who has been among the elite of German triathletes in sprint/short distance for several years. A few days ago Simon visited us in the north of Nuremberg so that our community could get to know him better. To do so, he answered the inquisitive questions of our Marketing Manager Carolin in our creative space Zeitgeyst.
Admittedly, triathlon is still one of the fringe sports in Germany. But its following is growing steadily, and the challenging combination of swimming, cycling and running is becoming more and more popular. What for us mere mortals sounds like a super-gruel of physical and mental agony is passion, fulfillment and vocation for Simon. And if you watch the 23-year-old during the interview, he radiates passion for his sport with every fiber. Click here for the full-length interview on YouTube >>
Sport Highlights
Simon began his athletic career with skiing, but later switched to triathlon. The first few years were marked by a few injury breaks, but since 2019 at the latest, things have been going really well for the sports soldier. He currently competes for Tri Team Schongau and in the Triathlon Bundesliga for hep performance Neckarsulm, but lives in Nuremberg and trains here at the new triathlon base. Simon is a member of the DTU-Perspektivkader as well as the Sportfördergruppe of the Bundeswehr. Participating in the Olympic Games is, of course, a dream he is determined to fulfill. His previous successes in recent years include:
2022
1st place U23 European Championships
2nd place EM in Mixed Relay
1st place 1st Bitburger 0.0% Triathlon National League Nuremberg
2021
3rd place European Cup Quarteira
2019
1st place European Championship Junior Mixed Relay
1st place German Championships Juniors
3rd place German Championships U23
(Training) everyday life
Simon is trained by Roland Knoll (former German triathlete, former national coach of the German Triathlon Union). Once a week, Simon likes to swim 25 km, bike 300 km and run 60 km. However, the training units vary constantly. Training camps are also often held abroad, such as Namibia or Cyprus.
If you're interested, you can also take a look at Simon's Instagram profile. Here he regularly posts content about leisure time, training and competitions. Simon also publishes the podcast Muskelmeisterei with his buddy Julian Müller (physiotherapist / doctor). Be sure to listen in!
To be continued
We have some exciting activities planned with Simon in the coming months. These include a sweaty workout for our office team and a charming home story with insights into his life away from sports.
